More than a pan shop!

 

New Generation Community Steel Orchestra, is our main reason why! As a registered charity, our youth based steel orchestra offers free lessons, uniforms, trips and experiences, to some of our community's most vulnerable young people, and is the driving force behind our shop. We provide our members with a place to belong, a family, and countless opportunities to succeed and achieve. Established in 2019 we have worked with hundreds of young people and families, whilst spreading the sweet sounds of steel pan far and wide, performing all over the UK and further afield. Every purchase made from our shop goes straight back into our charity! Isn't that great?

The mission!

April 2026 marked the beginning of the New Gen Pan Shop, with May 2026 seeing the launch of our online store! 

Steel Pan products can prove very difficult to get hold of in the UK, meaning pricey trips abroad, extremely long waits, or simply having to do without! Our band and players were struggling to source what we needed, and so were many of our fellow pannists and steel bands; something had to change! In addition, with funding becoming ever more difficult to source, and our critical work being in danger of having to cease, we hoped to find a way to sustain our band and help to preserve and grow the UK steel band market. All of this whilst also aiming to provide further experience and employment for our young adults! It's ambitious, but it's happening.
